Happy Thanksgiving!

Ok. So. I know Thanksgiving was a few days ago but we’ve been busy so…this is my Thanksgiving post 🙂 Starting there – it was Ellie’s first Thanksgiving! She may have had a couple outfits to commemorate the event:

Ellie enjoyed hanging out with her family (and they seemed to like her.) She ate some sweet potatoes in celebration but didn’t eat any ‘real’ Thanksgiving food – we’ll save that for next year. I found holidays are a little different now that we have a tiny tot – I spend much more time taking care of her than visiting with family. It makes the day more stressful, but it’s also exciting to change and adapt our traditions. Hopefully we’ll figure out a good balance as she continues to get bigger.

One new phase I’m hoping Ellie grows out of came up again on the way home from Thanksgiving. She has this new thing where if we’re in the car around/at her bedtime, instead of peacefully sleeping in her car seat like most babies, she screams like we’re doing the worst thing ever to her. On Thursday she slept about half of the way home and then seemingly realized we were going to make her sleep all night in her car seat and she started screaming. We pulled off and I got in the back with her but it didn’t really help. About 20 minutes later she started to calm down and only cried every few minutes. She then fell asleep literally 3 minutes before we got home. Poor baby. Here’s our sad girl:

We put up our Christmas decorations this weekend, therefore it’s officially time for the Christmas outfits to start:

I have to get her into some of them now, and she’s now growing out of her 9 month clothes. Yes, the 7 month old, that’s gestationally 5 months old, will probably be in her 12 month clothes in a week or two. Look at this giant girl:

Other new things – not only is Ellie a rolling machine, she’s starting to get places. She doesn’t roll continually in one direction, but she moves back to front and wiggles around enough that she ends up all over the room.

Our not so tiny girl has also started sleeping more like a newborn than a 7 month old. She’s been waking up at least once a night, usually two to three times. On Saturday night, she was up every single hour wanting to be held for at least 10-20 minutes. I’m hoping this is growth-spurt related (since she’s now giant) and she’ll start sleeping again. So I can start sleeping again. It’s a good thing she’s cute:

On a fun note, pureed green beans seem to be her favorite solid food. She’s starting to enjoy her veggies and lunge at the spoon when I give them to her.

Ellie has also been a teething monster and either has her hand in her mouth or is playing with the swollen spot on her gums with her tongue at all times.

Our little girl is growing up really fast, and while I miss her teeny tiny self (she’s over triple her birth weight!) she’s doing so many new fun and fascinating things that I’m excited every day to see what she’ll do next.

Here’s the bonus pictures of the week:
