Our Happy Toddler

DSC00241

Another few good weeks around here. And since it’s been awhile, a lot of photos. Some general updates – Ellie is doing really well ๐Ÿ™‚ ย She’s a happy, running toddler. Some of her smaller 18 month clothes are starting to look almost small (but she hasn’t grown out of them yet.) Her feet grew a size in the last 6 weeks and she’s now wearing size 5 toddler shoes! Her two baby friends (born around same time) are just moving into 3s – she apparently has big feet. She wears shoes every day at school (so they can play outside) so we had to get her some new ones – what a shame ๐Ÿ˜‰

Since everyone asks, no, she’s not sleeping great. Ellie is still getting up at least once a night. We just moved her out of her sleep sack and just with a light blanket and that seems to make her sleep a little better – which shouldn’t be surprising as she didn’t like pajamas with feet either – she likes to be free.

She has been eating food pretty well, but we’re still on a few bottles a day as she doesn’t seem to like to drink milk from a cup yet. We’re getting there. She does drink water from her straw cup very well. Her new favorite food is peaches, although strawberries may still be her ultimate favorite (next to baby cheetos of course.) She can spot them across the room – I have to hide them when we’re eating or she just stares and whines until I give them to her. Ellie also enjoys turkey lunch meat, mac n cheese and she loves hot dogs.

Last week she had her first real ice cream truck experience. I got her a bubblegum popcicle that she quite enjoyed (don’t worry, I didn’t let her eat the whole thing – not even close.) It did take some scrubbing to get the blue off of her face.

The 4th of July also happened! We did a few small fireworks, but she wasn’t a big fan. She was doing OK until the smoke started coming out, and then she freaked out. She’s pretty smart though – by the end she started turning her head away as soon as Clark went to light them. Oh well, maybe next year.

One of her new favorite things to do is sit in a chair. Any chair, but especially one she can climb in herself. It’s pretty adorable when she grabs a book, walks over and sits down.

Elizabeth has been ‘talking’ up a storm as well. Now that she has front teeth, she’s starting making new consonants. She’ll grab a book and come over to sit down and read. Ellie has also started dancing (aka swaying side to side) when a song comes on that she likes. And she loves playing with the rocks outside. She’s getting to a really fun age.

I also realized looking through her photos from this week she make this face a lot:
