Long time no update. Time flies when you’re chasing around a toddler 🙂 Here’s the quick update on what’s been happening lately.
The first, and most important to me, is something I almost don’t want to say out loud – the girl has finally started sleeping better in this last week. I’m really hoping this is the new normal and not another phase. Her molars finally came in and I think that might be helping the situation as well.
I also forgot to mention the outcome of our giving up bottles a couple months ago. Ellie is a spirited child and went on a 9 day milk strike after we took her bottles away. Just as I started to get really worried, she just started drinking milk out of a cup and she hasn’t looked back. She loves her milk to the point where we have to limit it sometimes.
Ellie is slowly starting to get more words. In the past couple weeks she’s starting imitating some animal noises, starting with an owl and she also has a cow (sort of), a horse and a dinosaur. The one that makes everyone laugh is if I ask her what Santa says, she says ‘ho ho’. It’s pretty adorable.
Our girl has started parroting some things we say and mumbling things that might be words. Her favorite word is no. She doesn’t say it short though, she says ‘nnoooooo’ in a really cute way. Every question you ask her she responds with ‘nnooooo’. If she actually wants it, she nods yes after saying no. She also asks ‘what’sthat’ (one word) while pointing at everything. All the time. She’s a very curious toddler.
At daycare in addition to teaching words, they teach some sign language and she’s really started picking up on that as well. Her favorite word to sign right now is ‘apple’. She’ll sign apple while saying it, which kind of defeats the purpose, but is pretty cute. Ellie can also sign ‘more’ (which she uses to mean please feed me I’m hungry), ‘milk’ (which is all the time because she loves milk), ‘eat’ (only after I ask her if she wants to eat) and I’m sure some other things I’m forgetting.
If it’s not obvious from the photos, this child is getting huge. I say that all the time, but that’s because it’s true. She reaches things she couldn’t before. And her hair is getting so long. And curly. It’s pretty adorable.
She’s also a very physically active child. She continues to love climbing on everything. She walks up and down the stairs like a champ, almost by herself. Ellie is very into stacking things right now, putting things together after taking them apart, reading books and figuring out how things work.
Miss Elizabeth also loves to have laughing contests, yelling contest and giving high fives. If you ask her to give a high five, she gives one to you and then proceeds to give one to everyone around – at least once.
Next up – Christmas! I’m so excited. It’s going to be so much fun! I’ll update on that soon 🙂
And now for lots of photos time.
