Ellie has had a busy summer with a lot of adventures. Her latest was a trip out to Duck Lake Pines Park for the Joe Kocur Foundation for Children softball tournament, where plenty of Red Wings alumni and other celebrities come out and play softball to raise money for charity.
It was a long day out in the sun for Ellie but she was good-natured for most of it. Eventually she just had to take a nap.
The best part for her was getting to see her new friend Deacon, as Deacon and his mom and a few other friends were there with us.
She doesn’t realize it yet but the Red Wings and their alumni hooked her up. Her old jersey (yes, she had one early enough that she’s already outgrown it, and already has a new one in the right size) was signed by Manny Legace, Mickey Redmond, Kirk Maltby, Danny DeKeyser, Bryan Smolinski, Darren McCarty, Jimmy Howard, Eddie Mio, and Jeff Blashill. I couldn’t even get some of those guys to sign for me.
