Figuring Out Our Routine

I’ve been back to work for a little over a week now so we’re starting to figure out what our new life looks like. Ellie seems to be doing really well at daycare. She’s eating better for them than she does us. She’s taking a real nap now in the afternoon (for them, she hasn’t yet today at home.) She still smiles at me when she comes home and they say she’s ‘doing great’ so…it sounds like she’s enjoying herself. She has even done a craft already, a tornado drill and taken a stroller ride with her little friends. I’m finding it a little hard now that my brain is back in work mode to shift it back to Mom mode when I get home – I’m slowly figuring that out. It also makes me sad that by the time I get home she’s getting done with her happy time and moving into crabby time, but I typically get some snuggles before she sleeps which makes the day better.

Here’s a picture they took of her at daycare – seems to be enjoying herself:

And in some of her cute outfits before I send her off to ‘school’:

Speaking of sleep, I almost don’t want to say this out loud for fear I’ll jinx it, but she’s been sleeping great. She’s crabby in the evening and usually eats once an hour for like 3 hours, but then she’s down by like 930 and she stays asleep until morning (somewhere between 6 and 730.) Fingers crossed she keeps it up, and maybe even backs it up to like 830. Next step will be putting her in her crib, but I’m not quite ready for that yet.

Jammies!

Of course Ellie has already brought her first cold home from daycare. Sigh. Last Friday night, in the middle of the night, she woke me up making a noise like she was having trouble breathing. Sure enough, her nose is filled with baby snot. So I rushed to find the handy hospital bulb syringe and started clearing out her poor tiny baby nose. Then I cried because she was there for two days and already had a cold. Then by Monday Clark and I had the cold. I forgot that she would not only get herself sick but get us sick too. The good news is she doesn’t really seem bothered by it and it’s already almost gone.

She looks only slightly sad:

On a happy note, I made her giggle again today. It seems sort of random, but I made a face at her that I’ve made 100 times and for some reason she giggled. It was so cute. I really hope she does it more so I can finally get it on video 🙂

Also, the Red Wings are undefeated in the regular season since her birth (including the game on her birthday):

Amazingly, this little girl is already 5 months old! So I took some pictures:
