Another week has gone by and we’ re still figuring out how our new life works. We’re gettin’ there. Ellie is still sick. She’s been to the Doctor twice this week and she still just has a cold – now it has a cough, but it’s still a cold. I know what you’re thinking ‘babies get colds’ ,which is true, but the Doctor didn’t laugh at me when I brought her in (in fact, she was glad I did) so it’s not just paranoid first time mom stuff. Poor baby. When she’s not coughing, she’s pretty happy though. And she’s up to 13lbs 8 oz.That’s just under triple her birth weight. Giant girl.
Ellie is definitely learning new things this week. That means that she’s been unpredictable. Growth spurts, physical or mental, make babies weird. It also means she’s doing fun new things. She laughs at me almost every day. It’s always something different, and random, and I can’t make her repeat it but she laughs, so I’m OK with it.
She’s also super close to rolling from her back to her tummy. She still hasn’t mastered tummy to back – in fact she’s sort of given up. But this morning she had all of herself rolled from back to belly except one shoulder, so she then rolled back onto her back. She’s getting better at bringing things to her (well, her mouth.) She also just in general seems more alert and aware and interested in things. It’s been really fun watching her grow and discover the world around her.
Hanging out in her Exersaucer
Sitting up in her high chair playing with toys
She’s also been teething again (which is pretty constant for babies I hear) but her hands haven’t left her mouth for the last couple of days. She seems to have one finger and her thumb that are her favorite.
Look – it’s my hand
As it’s October, I’ve also started getting out her Halloween outfits.
Heading out for a walk on Saturday
